In 2021, AP VoteCast conducted more than 3,000 interviews with registered voters in Virginia to provide insights into the gubernatorial election. Between October 27 and November 2, concluding as polls closed on Election Day, VoteCast delivered in-depth data on the election, and AP VoteCast highlighted the opinions of voters and nonvoters across the Commonwealth.
The Associated Press and Fox News – as well as other news outlets like the Washington Post, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal – used the data to explain the mood of the electorate in their election coverage. The results of the 2021 survey were comprehensive and accurate when compared with key benchmarks.
The Associated Press and NORC are committed to transparency of VoteCast’s methods and results, as well as the continual improvement of the VoteCast methodology over time.
