Sixty-eight percent of adults are pessimistic about the state of politics in the United States and many lack confidence that the parties will select presidential candidates fairly.
Most within the AAPI community lack trust in government institutions and have little hope for the Republican and Democratic Parties’ futures. Just 1 in 10 AAPI adults believe democracy is functioning well, though another 47% say it is functioning somewhat well.
About half the public thinks the U.S. should prioritize negotiating a permanent ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Fewer think military aid to Israel is a high priority.
Half of adults are concerned about the threat to the United States from Russia’s influence around the world. Forty percent say Ukraine is an ally that shares U.S. values, and 43% consider it a partner that does not share U.S. values.
Democrats who are dissatisfied with Biden’s handling of the conflict are more likely to believe the U.S. is too supportive of Israel and not supportive enough of the Palestinians.
