The Trump administration’s approach to Greenland is proving unpopular among U.S. adults, according to a new AP-NORC poll. Twenty-four percent of adults approve of how President Trump is handling Greenland, while 72% disapprove. His handling of Greenland faces steeper public opposition than his handling of foreign policy generally.
While Democrats and independents view Trump’s handling of Greenland similarly to his handling of other issues, Republicans diverge. About half disapprove of his approach to Greenland, representing a significant departure from other issues, where Republican disapproval of Trump’s handling hovers around a quarter—whether on the economy, foreign policy, or immigration.

The nationwide poll was conducted February 5-8, 2026 using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 1,156 adults. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 3.9 percentage points
