Only 34% of Jewish adults feel safe as a Jewish person living in the United States today. And about 2 in 10 report being verbally harassed or harassed online in the last year because of their Jewish faith.
Jewish adults express limited confidence in both major political parties’ support for their community, with just 15% saying the Democratic Party supports them well and 16% saying the same of the Republican Party.
Forty percent of religiously affiliated Jewish adults feel very or extremely emotionally attached to Israel and 48% say supporting Israel is a key part of their Jewish identity. Among secular Jews, only 11% say they are emotionally attached to Israel and just 12% consider support of Israel a key part of their Jewish identity.
Overall, 31% of Americans say Israel’s military actions in Gaza constitute genocide, while 2 in 10 say is has not. Just about half of the public feels they don’t know enough about the situation to say.
