About half of the public watched most of an award show in the past year.

Fifty-five percent of adults have viewed clips from an award show at least once this past year.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will be aired on Sunday. About half of the public say they watched all or most of at least one award show in the past year. And 55% have seen clips from an award show.

Hispanic adults are more likely than white adults to have watched an awards show in the past year. Sixty-four percent of Hispanic adults tuned into all or part of an awards show last year, compared with 44% of white adults and 57% of Black adults.

The public views clips from award shows at a similar rate to watching the show itself. Black adults and Hispanic adults are more likely than white adults to watch excerpts from award ceremonies. Half of white adults watched clips at least once in the past year compared with about 6 in 10 Black adults or Hispanic adults.

Adults aged 18-44 were more likely than adults age 45 and over to have watched segments of award shows last year.

The nationwide poll was conducted August 21-25, 2025, using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 1,182. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 3.8 percentage points.
