The AP VoteCast survey of 120,896 registered voters nationwide was conducted between Oct. 31 and Nov. 8, 2022, concluding as polls closed on Election Day.

Trump’s legal issues have little impact on his support

Fifty-three percent of the public believe former President Trump has done something illegal regarding his alleged interference in Georgia’s vote count during the 2020 presidential election. Fewer, 41%, say the same about the New York case for which he has been indicted.

Immigration continues to be a highly divisive issue

U.S. adults are more than twice as likely to say the number of immigrants allowed in the U.S. should be reduced rather than increased (44% vs. 20%). There is little public agreement on what immigration policies the government should prioritize.
